Blocking Member Access to Online Booking
This document provides a detailed process on how to manage member access for online bookings through an automated system, as well as manual options. Members can be restricted from booking classes or appointments if they consistently fail to attend. This guide will outline how to set up automatic penalties, manually block and unblock clients, and utilize API for the same purposes.
Step 1
Begin by understanding that members can be blocked from booking classes or appointments due to certain penalties. This process involves several stages, starting with an automated system configuration for penalties.

Step 2
Navigate to the Admin section, then proceed to the Classes tab. Click on the three dots at the top to access Advanced Settings. Here, you will find the option to set the number of consecutive no-shows required to trigger a penalty. It is currently configured for three no-shows. This means if a member books but does not attend three times consecutively, they are penalized by having their access to book classes blocked for 15 days.

Step 3
This setup automatically blocks a member's access to book classes through any client-facing properties, such as the white-label member app, booking widget, or member portal. Once the penalty period ends, the member is notified that their booking restrictions have been lifted, allowing them to resume booking online.

Step 4
The process is automated, triggering blocking and unblocking as penalties occur. However, if a manual block or unblock is necessary, this can be managed directly from the client's profile.

Step 5
To manually block a client, click on their profile and navigate to More Actions. Select "Block Client Booking," which will prompt you to specify the duration of the block.

Step 6
For instance, you may choose to block them until the end of the month. This manual restriction can be applied for no-shows or other operational reasons. If a member needs to be blocked from online booking, you can choose this option and confirm by clicking "Block."

Step 7
Once a member is blocked, the Booking tab will display a banner indicating the restriction and the end date of the block, such as "Booking is restricted. This client is restricted from booking online appointments and classes until November 30th."

Step 8
Within More Actions, the option to "Unblock Client Booking" becomes available. Clicking this will prompt a confirmation, "Are you sure you want to unblock this client?" Selecting "Yes" will restore their booking privileges. Even if a penalty is in place due to the no-show settings, you can choose to unblock the member earlier if necessary.

Step 9
If unblocking is chosen, you will see "Unblock" rather than "Block" as an option. The same actions can also be executed using the API.

Step 10
The API allows for setting and clearing blocking dates. While this is typically done through our interfaces like white-label mobile apps, widgets, and member portals, the same functionality can be integrated into your own system using the API. This provides flexibility in managing member access.
